On Cyber Security Day, the National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA) participated in an event organized by Microsoft and Soft & Solution, where the challenges and strategies for protecting critical infrastructure in Albania were discussed. The Director of NCSA, Igli Tafa, presented concrete measures taken by Albania to strengthen security, emphasizing the importance of the new cyber security law, which aligns the country with the EU’s NIS 2 Directive. This law creates a clear framework for risk management and enhances the resilience of systems against growing threats.
With the identification of 289 critical infrastructures and their expansion due to the digitalization of services, the need for stronger protective measures and continuous investments in cyber security is greater than ever. During the event, the importance of collaboration between public institutions and key industry players was highlighted, with NCSA and NAIS sharing their experiences on implementing security policies and strengthening defensive capabilities. Cooperation with Microsoft and other international partners plays a key role in strengthening technological capacities, increasing protection against cyber threats, and implementing the highest security standards.
One of the main challenges remains the development of human capacities. For this reason, NCSA is implementing a clear strategy for training operators of critical infrastructures and preparing new specialists, aiming to build a strong base of experts who can address future security challenges.
Cyber security is an ongoing process that requires a coordinated approach and long-term cooperation. NCSA remains committed to strengthening the protection of critical infrastructures, working with state institutions and international partners to ensure a secure and sustainable digital space for Albania.
